Northstar on 14 September: Second Center, Milestone 20, and Operational Bottlenecks
Northstar concluded 14 September 2026 with a population above 110,000. This progress was not the result of a single major intervention; instead, the building agent expanded residential and commercial zones, upgraded schools and utilities, addressed a localized deathcare backlog, and evaluated several traffic measures. At the same time, high unemployment, recurring traffic congestion, and reported material shortages remained unresolved within the CS2 simulation.
Population Growth and Milestone 20
The initial structured reading at 00:02 recorded 99,630 residents, while the final reading at 23:58 showed 110,078. The difference between these two readings is 10,448 residents. This represents a comparison of recorded states rather than a growth rate adjusted for restarts or savegame loads. Over the course of the day, saved states were loaded and interface sources changed.
| Indicator | 00:02 | 23:58 | Context |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simulated population | 99,630 | 110,078 | Difference between readings: +10,448 |
| Experience points | 629,674 | 754,915 | Value does not derive building or resident counts |
| Total reported jobs | 34,232 | 40,351 | Job offerings, not count of employed residents |
| Reported open jobs | 1 | 0 | Concurrent unemployment remains unexplained |
| Unemployment rate | 29.81% | 26.31% | Decrease of 3.50 percentage points; cause not isolated |
| Happiness | 66 | 67 | In-game metric |
| Health | 64 | 65 | In-game metric |
The first reading above 110,000 occurred at 22:25, recording 110,078 residents. Toward the end of the day, the population moved little around this level, which does not prove a sustained, permanent surge in growth. The concluding directive therefore focused on appropriate jobs and education before designating larger additional residential zones.
During the morning, Milestone 20, "Megalopolis," was documented as regularly reached. The unlock dialog paused the simulation before execution resumed. The confirmed rules for unlimited money, full building unlock, and complete map unlock were disabled. Quadruple simulation speed was repeatedly read back, though this indicates neither an uninterrupted day nor quadruple computational throughput.
Traffic Adjustments on Landhausstraße
The night began with recurring congestion along Landhausstraße. Periods of clear ramps alternated with long queues, while the southern entry roundabout and Weitenstraße were also congested during individual checks. The building agent treated clear views as localized snapshots rather than an all-clear for the entire street network.
Around 01:14, a trial on the downstream small roundabout concluded: converting it into a signalized intersection had brought no recognizable relief across two observation windows. The trial was reverted, and the original roundabout was restored. The inspected streets and existing local industry were preserved. This documents an unsuccessful relief attempt rather than proven long-term harm from traffic lights in general.
A medium roundabout was tested later. An initially favorable view proved insufficient, as subsequent checks showed the approach remained under load. The next intervention targeted the final road segment of roughly 120 meters before the roundabout. It received two lanes entering the circle and one lane exiting. An initial incorrect lane orientation was corrected and visually verified.
During scheduled follow-up checks at 05:48 and 06:07, the ramp was repeatedly clear or backed up only briefly, with no continuous queue extending onto the highway visible in these views. The additional entry lane was therefore kept for the time being. Nördliche Kirchenstraße remained under load. Without vehicle counts, these checks do not demonstrate a percentage increase in throughput or permanent relief from congestion. By late evening, four traffic warnings were reported; the count alone does not reflect queue length, wait times, or root causes.
Utilities, Deathcare, and Healthcare
Early in the night, two wind turbines were added and connected, raising recorded generation from 85 to 95 MW. Early in the evening, another upgraded turbine brought total generation to 105.625 MW. An initial connection failed due to an overlap with the foundation of an adjacent turbine, but linking to a free existing node succeeded. In the morning, a new water tower raised water capacity from approximately 150,418 to 185,520 internal game units against a sample consumption of 131,509.
The final structured reading recorded stable supply margins: electricity consumption stood at 707,977 against generation of 1,056,250; water consumption was 145,897 against a capacity of 189,952; and sewage consumption stood at 145,897 against a capacity of 605,000 internal units. Electricity generation explicitly does not equal installed capacity.
A deathcare case at an existing crematorium showed that expanding pickup capacity does not automatically clear backlogs. The facility initially had all 10 hearses active. The building agent added a garage, bringing active vehicles to 15. However, stored bodies rose from 22 (with 20 displayed spaces) to between 57 and 59, even as citywide pickup warnings dropped. Around 12:45, an additional furnace was added to the crematorium, increasing displayed processing from 134 (base capacity 100) to 201 (base capacity 150) per game month. By 13:38, storage fell to 5, confirming local backlog reduction. A full cemetery and fluctuating pickup warnings in other areas remained separate issues. In the evening, an interface check reported 10 of 10 vehicles used, while the native display showed 6 of 10 active vehicles seconds later, leaving the exact metric counted by the interface unverified.
In healthcare, a western clinic had 31 to 32 of 100 patient beds occupied, but all 10 ambulances were on call, which did not demonstrate a bed shortage. An additional clinic with its own access road was built and placed into operation, logging staff, initial patients, and vehicle activity. A later check showed four patients, full staffing, and incoming medical supplies. Ambulance warnings briefly ceased before returning later in the evening. An evening sample showing 59 occupied beds out of 325 available treatment spaces also argues against an overall bed shortage at that time, but it does not explain individual delayed pick-ups.
Development of the Second Center and Education
New district development began west of the existing Landhausstraße crossing. A 256-meter collector road opened an initial office section, where four inspected firms reported 304 employees combined. A local road loop, a primary school with 1,500 spaces, a secondary school, and limited residential and commercial zones followed. Existing ramps and a bridge provided connections in both directions, which did not constitute a completely independent second external link; shared bottlenecks persisted.
The building agent verified open plots individually, preserving established school and office parcels and waiting for building readouts rather than repeating zoning commands when areas appeared empty. In the evening, the eastern road was extended by 144 meters with added industry, followed by northern access roads and a 200-meter cross street. Residential construction directly adjacent to the wastewater treatment facility and industrial parcels was avoided.
Education expansions accompanied this growth. Earlier additions provided 400 secondary school spaces and 500 primary school spaces. At 23:41, an educational review revealed 15,025 eligible students against 14,500 secondary school spaces. Two existing schools received 400 additional spaces each, raising capacity to 15,300—a snapshot reserve of 275 spaces over demand. Concurrently, two small industrial plots were designated on the eastern road, where two new firms reported 30 employees each.
Interface Diagnostics and Open Tasks
Technical tests involved Northstar MCP Model Context Protocol, an open protocol through which an AI model calls tools and reads data from other software.. Version v0.2.0 underwent functional checks and was replaced following an unresolved safety review, leaving v0.2.1 active. Small zoning assignments could be cross-checked with spatial readouts. In one instance, 60 reported buffer entries corresponded to only 30 unique cells. Warning labels also required verification: a capacity warning designated as a garbage problem was confirmed to belong to a cemetery.
The current interface source does not provide all previous metrics, leaving resident arrivals and total employed counts unrecorded. For chart generation, 70 original readings were selected from 174 structured data points without interpolation.
Several issues remain open at the end of the reporting period. The drop in the unemployment rate to 26.31% coincided with zero reported open jobs, requiring closer examination of job structure, qualifications, and accessibility. Nine material shortage warnings were recorded in the final check, confirming that recent industrial additions have not resolved supply issues. Addressing persistent traffic conflicts and examining freight delivery paths remain ongoing priorities.
